Do the sums
Without a schedule, the job that slips is the one nobody looked at.
If the schedule prevents one slip a month, it has paid for itself three times over.
The floor board is on the wall screen. Two jobs running, one late from Friday. The production manager drags it to the second lathe and the promise date holds.
An operator scans the job pack to start. The BOM had already flagged the flange stock as short, so purchasing knew on Friday.
The last work order completes. The order page offers Move to QC, then Invoiced, then Shipped. The customer watches it happen in their portal.
